My personal Pope


He wore a fedora and overalls,
Often together.
Kept him from Rome.

Middle-aged when Kansas called,
He adopted me anyway.
And six more of my ilk.

I called him Papa.
He ruled.
And I'm the better for it.

He died.
No smoke. No pomp.
Just adopted by his Father.
